Pronombres de objeto indirecto.
Indirect Object Pronouns.
Repeat: Pronombres de objeto indirecto.
Indirect object pronouns replace nouns or noun phrases that receive the action indirectly. They indicate to whom or for whom an action is performed. Let's look at some examples:
Yo doy el regalo a Juan.
I give the gift to Juan.
Repeat: Yo doy el regalo a Juan.
This sentence means I give the gift to Juan.
Now let's replace the indirect object a Juan (to Juan) with an indirect object pronoun:
Yo le doy el regalo.
I give him the gift.
Repeat: Yo le doy el regalo.
In this case, the indirect object pronoun le replaces a Juan and still represents Juan in the sentence.
Another example:
Ella envía una carta a sus padres.
She sends a letter to her parents.
Repeat: Ella envía una carta a sus padres.
Now let's replace the indirect object a sus padres (to her parents) with an indirect object pronoun:
Ella les envía una carta.
She sends them a letter.
Repeat: Ella les envía una carta.
In this case, the indirect object pronoun les replaces a sus padres and still represents her parents in the sentence.
